Identifying eBooks

"E-Books", or electronic books, are books located in NetLibrary, a full text, online collection of reference, scholarly and professional books. From campus, you can access eBooks through NetLibrary by clicking on the link "Connect to Resource." If you want to access an eBook from off-campus, you must first create an individual account while on campus through the NetLibrary Mainpage. On the NetLibrary mainpage you will find a link to create an individual NetLibrary account. Once an account has been created from Berea College's campus, you can access NetLibrary resources from any internet connection.

  • To begin your eBOOKS (electronic books) search, access the Hutchins Library Home Page.

  • Click the Search button (as highlighted below) underneath "BANC."

  • In this example we will be searching for items by Mark Hoyer.

    1. Type hoyer, mark in the "Find This" search box [1 below].
    2. Choose Browse Author from the "Find Results In" box [2 below].
    3. Click Search [3 below].

    • You will then be taken to a result screen -- an alphabetical list of authors. As you can see from the results screen below, we own 2 items by Mark Hoyer.

    • To view the items we own, click on Hoyer, Mark T. or the number of that entry.

    • Below, you will find the results screen identifying the two items Hutchin Library owns by Mark T. Hoyer.
    • Click on Dancing Ghosts [electronic resource]

    • The Call Number and Location identify this item as an eBook (as highlighted below).
    • Click on "Connect to resource" to take you to the record for the book in NetLibrary.

    • Below you will see the NetLibrary record for Dancing Ghosts. If you wanted to access this eBook, you would need to have a NetLibrary account. From campus, you can create an account online through the NetLibrary mainpage.
