Conducting an AUTHOR Search

  • To begin your BANC author search, access the Hutchins Library Home Page.

  • Click the Search button (as highlighted below) underneath "BANC."




  • If you are trying to locate a work (or list of works) by a particular author:

    1. Type the author's name (last name, first name) in the "Find This" search box.
    2. Choose Browse Author from the "Find Results in" box.
    3. Click Search.
    		•



    • You will then be taken to a result screen -- an alphabetical list of authors (based on the particular author you are searching). As you can see from the results screen below, we own 2 items by Andrew Baskin.

    • To view the items we own, click on the author's name or the number of that entry. (In the example below, you would chose [1].)



    • Clicking on the author's name or [1] as shown above, results in a record (below) of the items Hutchins Library owns by the author. Notice that the record provides the call number (1) and location (2) of each item.

    BANC Tutorial - Quick Assessment

    1. Access BANC through the Hutchins Library Home Page by clicking here.
    2. Using the above instructions, conduct an AUTHOR Search for William Shakespeare.
    3. Answer the question and click on the correct answer.
