Developing a Research Strategy

Build a Keyword Search

The success of a search depends on the keywords you use and how you combine them. Developing a good search strategy will help you zero in on the exact information you need.

In this section, you will learn to:

  • cross separate concepts with AND,
  • combine synonyms with OR,
  • use truncation symbols to search for multiple endings, and
  • look for the way a database interprets phrases.
Note: If you do not have a list of concepts, synonyms, and multiple endings, please return to Brainstorm Search Terms.
